Program Summary |
|
| |
This program places graduate students
from physics and chemistry into area schools as science/math
content resources and technology experts. The program has both local and remote positions for the 2008/09 year. In the local model, fellows spend approximately 15 hours per week on program activities. In the remote model, fellows spend two weeks per term at their schools, which for the most part will be located in Eastern Oregon.
Fellows
are required to attend a weekly seminar where they share successes
and ideas as well as talk through challenges that arise during
their in-class experiences. The GK12 Fellows selected to participate
in this program will receive education training in the summer,
and then work with teachers in elementary schools and/or middle
schools (grades K-8) as science kit experts and adopted scientists.
In addition, they can use the extensive science demonstration
equipment collected by the University of Oregon to enhance and
extend classroom experiences. |
