Statement of Purpose

 
In no more than three pages, please write a statement of interest that summarizes your research, educational and career objectives and why you should be considered for a GK-12 scholarship. As a guide, please address the questions listed below in your essay. Submit the typed essay to Anae Rosenberg's mailbox, 163 Willamette.
 
  1. Why do you want to participate in the GK-12 Fellows program?
  2. What qualities do you feel you possess that make you a good resource for K-12 teachers and students?
  3. Describe any experience you have working in a k-12 setting.
  4. What do you see as some of the challenges of effective k-12 science education?
  5. what specific disciplines (e.g. environmental science, chemistry, geology, physics, mathematics,etc.) do you feel most qualfied to teach and provide expertise to K-12 teachers and students?
  6. Discuss your experience shadowing a current GK-12 fellow.
  7. Describe your research. Clearly describe the goals of your research and your plans/progress toward achieving your goals. Wherever possible, indicate specific results/outcomes of your research. Be as specific as possible, but direct your presentationn to a general science audience. More senior students should focus their discussion on the results of their research.
