The castle Bäckaskog
is beautifully situated near a lake approximately 15 km to the east
of Kristianstad
in Skåne (Scania),
the most southern province of Sweden.
See Square 9L on this online
map.
The hotel is based on a 13th century monastery,
was converted into a castle in 1584, and became the Swedish King's
favorite holiday place in the 19th century. Bäckaskog Castle was
also the site for the 2000 Nobel Symposium on Quantum Chaos.
The distance from the conference site to
Copenhagen
and Copenhagen Airport
(Kastrup) is less than 150 km. Copenhagen is connected to Malmö,
Sweden by a car and train bridge that
was completed in 2000. For detailed directions, see Travel
Information.
